TAMPA, Fla. - The United Soccer League is excited to announce a new content series highlighting the USL Academy products who have progressed into the professional ranks, titled “Academy to Pro” presented by Crystal Geyser.
Announced earlier this year, the partnership between the USL and Crystal Geyser® Alpine Spring Water® as the Official Water Partner of the USL will feature this custom content series designed to amplify the Crystal Geyser® Alpine Spring Water® “Find Your Source of Greatness” campaign, highlighting the personal journeys and dedication that fuel the players’ and clubs’ pursuit of excellence.
Written feature articles will live on the Academy to Pro page of the USL Academy website, highlighting the stories and accomplishments of players who completed the pathway by signing professional contracts. More information on the USL’s pathway can be found on the Academy Contracts page, alongside stories about players who signed Academy Contracts, which enable players to play for professional clubs while retaining their college eligibility.
In addition to written articles and curated social media content, the Academy to Pro webpage will host a player tracker to recognize the USL Academy players who have signed professional contracts. Since 2019, over 70+ players have progressed from the USL Academy platform to sign professional deals.
Formally established in 2021, the USL Academy provides clubs in all five of the USL's professional (USL Championship, USL League One, USL Super League) and pre-professional divisions (USL League Two, USL W League) with an elite development and competition platform to develop local players for their senior team. Almost every club in the USL Championship had at least one Academy player on their senior roster last season.
Stay tuned to the USL Academy website, Instagram, and Twitter for the latest content.
