FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The USL Academy is excited to announce Fort Lauderdale United FC’s entry into the USL Academy League, marking a significant step toward providing a pathway for female players to reach the highest levels of professional soccer. This initiative, alongside Fort Lauderdale United FC’s newly established USL W League team, reinforces the club’s commitment to advancing women’s soccer and creating direct opportunities from youth soccer to the professional ranks.
Through the USL Academy League, Fort Lauderdale United FC’s youth players (U20 and below) will have access to the USL Pathway Classic—the only unrestricted youth tournament hosted by a U.S. Soccer professional league organization. This event invites top clubs from across the country to compete, offering a unique platform for players to showcase their skills and earn recognition on a national stage.
“We are thrilled to welcome Fort Lauderdale United FC to the USL Academy League, where their commitment to developing talent aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Carrie Taylor, USL Technical Director – Women's Pathway. “This partnership not only strengthens the pathway to professional soccer, but also exemplifies the structure and investment from club ownership to grow the game at all levels.”
As Fort Lauderdale United FC joins the USL Academy League, the club’s female players will benefit from high-level competition, elite coaching, and a direct pathway to professional soccer through the USL ecosystem.
