TAMPA, Fla. – USL Academy announced on Monday the award winners for the 2024 USL Academy League Finals at IMG Academy, with Indy Eleven defender Jake Alb earning the Golden Ball as the Player of the Tournament after leading his side to victory in Sunday’s final against AC Connecticut.
Alb played a key role for the Boys in Blue as they progressed through the tournament, including scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory against AC Connecticut in the final. The 16-year-old was also named as the Young Player of the Tournament.
“If I’m being honest, I wasn’t expecting to get it,” said Alb. “I was just playing the game that I love, that I grew up playing, and I just couldn’t be more honored to hold this with my team and do this for my team. This means a lot.”
The Richmond Kickers’ James Sneddon won the tournament’s Golden Glove, awarded to the top goalkeeper at the event, as he recorded two shutouts in three appearances and a goals-against average of 0.67 while leading the Kickers to the Semifinals in their first appearance at Academy League Finals.
The Golden Boot was claimed by Fynn Lahrsen of Indy Eleven, who took the award after recording three goals and one assist in helping his side to victory in the tournament.
Indy Eleven’s Kiki Wallace, meanwhile, was named as the Coach of the Tournament after leading his side to its second victory at Academy League Finals in four years.
