DETROIT – Detroit City FC announced on Friday a historic moment for the club with the signing of local Academy product Dominic Gasso to his first professional contract. Gasso becomes the first player in Le Rouge’s history to be signed to a pro deal after coming through its academy setup. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.

Gasso’s contract is the longest in the history of Detroit City FC with the young midfielder committing to the club for four and a half years, which includes two-and-a-half years guaranteed and two one-year options for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The 19-year-old has made eight appearances in the USL Championship this season for DCFC as a USL Academy signing. He made his USL Championship debut on August 27, 2022 as a second-half substitute in a 3-0 victory against the Charleston Battery.

This season has seen Gasso take on an increased role in the squad, coming on for more impactful moments and making his mark. In Le Rouge’s last match, at home to Orange County SC, Gasso came on to replace an injured Abdoulaye Diop in the 34th minute and calmly slotted into the midfield for the remaining 56 minutes of play. Gasso completed 83% of his passes, going 19 for 23.
