PAPILLION, Neb. – Union Omaha today announced the signing of defender Anderson Holt, pending league and federation approval. With the signing, Holt becomes the third Owl in club history to sign an academy contract (Yoskar Edu Galvan and Jaime Ponce, 2021).

Last season, Holt helped his Queensboro FC team to the 2022 USL Academy League Final. Holt also served as a secondary captain for Queensboro FC II in the United Premier Soccer League, leading the developmental side to a Spring 2022 UPSL Northeast Division title.

At age 15, the San Diego native left the United States to play overseas as a part of the TalentProjekt in Germany. The program provides high-level training for American youth players and gives them the opportunity to go head-to-head against top Bundesliga academies.

“Anderson is a talented young player that could go on to have a great career in the game if he continues to focus on the key things he needs to do to improve,” Omaha Head Coach Dominic Casciato said. “It’s tough to find young left-footed center backs with his quality and desire to learn, so I’m looking forward to helping him develop as he takes his first steps in the professional game.”

“Anderson is exactly the type of player we hope to sign to an academy contract,” Omaha General Manager Peter Marlette said. “He has all the tools to become a successful professional and the ability to contribute to our team this season. I can’t wait to see him develop over the course of this season and am excited for his future.”

“I am delighted to sign here at Union Omaha and continue my journey with this team,” Holt said. “It’s exciting to join a team with such a strong fan base and rich history.”
