Title-winners Indy Eleven earn four First Team selections to lead event’s standout talents

TAMPA, Fla. – The United Soccer League announced on Thursday the All-Tournament Teams for the 2021 USL Academy Playoffs, honoring the top performers from the final event of the league’s inaugural season in the Tampa Bay region last week.

Tournament winners Indy Eleven lead the group with four selections to the First Team with Golden Glove winner Alex Svetanoff and Golden Boot winner Kabiru Gafar joined by midfielders Alann Torres and Diego Sanchez in being honored. Gafar recorded three goals and one assist at the event, while Torres had two goals and two assists as he captained the side to victory.

Fellow finalists Queensboro FC had three players selected to the First Team, with forward Damien Barker having led the side with three goals, while midfielder Piero Elias and defender Esteban Espinosa also earned recognition. Both the Charlotte Independence and New Mexico United – who met in the third-place matchup – earned two selections, with New Mexico’s Golden Ball winner Cristian Nava being joined by defender Mikah Madrid, and the Independence’s midfielder Jefferson Amaya and defender Augustus Guinle being selected.

The USL Academy Playoffs All-Tournament Team was selected by USL Academy scouts and staff.
