Ben Erkens and Conor Dowler become first academy signings in Triumph SC history

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Greenville Triumph SC has signed midfielders Ben Erkens and Conor Dowler to Academy contracts for the remainder of the 2019 season, marking the first academy signings in the club’s history.

Erkens and Dowler join the Triumph from Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA), one of the largest youth clubs in South Carolina. The high school seniors were teammates on CESA’s Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) team, which is the highest level of competition at the club.

Both standout players in their young careers so far, Erkens was named the South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year earlier this summer and has committed to play at Clemson University in 2020, while Dowler will head to Furman University next fall. Both players will primarily train with CESA but are eligible for selection effectively immediately and could be considered for the 18-man roster this weekend.

Triumph SC will look to solidify its top four position in the first of its final four games of the regular season this Friday against Toronto FC II at Legacy Early College.
